Marriage Record
San Miguel de Ures, 1778
- In this town of San Miguel de los Ures, on the twenty-second of November of [seventeen] seventy-eight (before me, the undersigned Father Minister), there were married before the church, by words of the present tense which make true Matrimony: Joseph Maria Carmelo, native of San Juan de Sonora, resident for three years at the Presidio of San Miguel and residing in this town of Ures, legitimate son of Joseph Carmelo and of Nicolasa Mondarra [?]; and Maria Moreno, native of San Joseph de Gracia, resident of the said San Miguel for the same span of three years and residing in this town, legitimate daughter of Nicolas Moreno and of Anna, deceased; all the diligences prescribed by the Holy Council of Trent having preceded them, and the banns having been read in this Church and in that of San Miguel on three feast days during the solemn mass, and no impediment resulting against them. They did not receive the nuptial veiling because she is a widow, but they attended the Mass of their second nuptials. Witnesses to seeing them married were Juan Bautista Casanova, Rafael Estrella, and Vicente Andrade; and so that it be of record, I signed it.
